Father, you are calling me to deeper waters. Your Presence reassures me to not be afraid.
You reach out and say, Come, child of mine, take My hand. Allow Me to steady you through these waters. Keep in mind when you start to sink, where has your gaze wandered off too? Are your eyes still fixed on me? Are you still holding onto me? Don’t worry, I won’t let you drown, but maybe I will teach you how to swim. However, you won’t be able to dare these waters on your own. My Hand will never be out of reach. I have promised to strengthen, sustain, and guide you. May your perseverance and faith show those around you that the waters aren’t so troubling after all in the Hand of the Maker.
My Pastor preached a sermon back at the beginning of this year that prompted me to give my full “YES” to the Lord’s calling for this journey.
The message title was “What is Your Boat?”
In Matthew Jesus tells us a story of his disciples being out at sea in the midst of a storm. The scripture reads in Matthew 14:24-26, “The ship was now tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And Jesus went unto them walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, it is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.” Vs. 27 says but Jesus spoke, “Be of good cheer; It is I; be not afraid.”
I do not know about you, but I still would have been no where near the edge of that boat.
Yet, Peter (one of Jesus’ 12 disciples) eager and fearless responds in Vs. 28 to Jesus saying, “Lord if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.” (insert big eyed emoji)!
My Pastor shared from this passage how Peter was WILLING to step out from the security of the boat, and he was able to see the miraculous happen out on the waters.
I read this over and over just in awe with Peter’s response. I think if I were in such situation what would I have done? I would certainly not be asking Jesus if I could come out to join him on the waves. Maybe more like, “Jesus, can you please calm these waters and winds then we can talk about me getting out of the boat.”
FRIENDS (BUT WOW THIS GETS ME SO HYPE)! That is just it. It is when we TAKE ACTION and step out of our boats; this is when Jesus is able to do the miraculous. When we are out of our boat, we are completely dependent upon our God and His strength.
My pastor asked me this a couple months back, and it changed my life.
So, I want to ask you today, “WHAT IS YOUR BOAT?”
There is always something to be fearful of, something that will hold us back, and we will still have that fear probably out on the water; But here we have the Father’s Hand.
Vs. 31 scripture says, “IMMEDIATELY Jesus stretches forth His Hand and caught Peter.”
The Father did not hesitate. He caught Peter immediately. He did not let him go, and He will not let you go today.
I pray that you willingly reach out and take the Father’s Hand today to walk on whatever waves are before you.
Your Beloved, Kel

I absolutely love that question! I think it’s also so beautiful you were able to use a sermon you heard at the start of the year to write this blog! You have an amazing way with words! I am excited to read and hear more of what you have to share!
