test

The experiences we have had this past month or even week could hold to an eternity. Yes, I am being a bit dramatic; but truly, SO much has happened!

Update on where H-squad is at

My squad is like a puzzle right now that one is trying to place all back together. Over half of our squad is still in San Pedro, Honduras quarantining due to Covid. They will be tested sometime in the upcoming week. We are praying that they all will be able to make it to New Jersey. The other 17 of us are still in New Jersey where we were just supposed to be for a 24-hour layover.

Our crazy, travel days

We flew out Monday morning from San Pedro to Newark, New Jersey (thinking we would only be here for a layover). It was a tremendous blessing from the Lord to be back in the states after 5 months (seriously, I cried when we landed). I was able to see my sweet momma! And, then our flight to South Africa was scheduled to be late the next day (Tuesday night). Being that now it is Saturday morning, and we are still in New Jersey. It was not God’s will for us to be there yet. The 17 of us truly did attempt to get to South Africa For the next two days.

Day 1 of attempting to fly to Africa

Oh boy, was it fun! I think we all have cried and laughed by this point. The first attempt at this flight we were told our Covid test would not be valid due to the fact of South Africa’s stricter restrictions. Covid is heavily affecting this country right now. Our Covid tests had not been taken within South Africa’s stricter travel regulations since we had such a long layover. After a long while waiting, we were told we were able to fly and would just have to be tested as soon as we landed in Johannesburg (Whoohooo, we all thought…). We made it through TSA and security, grabbed a quick bite to eat, and were about to board when the kindest man calls our group to the side. He informed us we would not be boarding this flight. If we did we all would be deported once we arrived to South Africa. (The airlines had contacted the embassy in South Africa at this point). This was such a Holy Spirit filled experience, though. By this point our team was just laughing seeing as we were moments away from boarding. The United-airline workers were angels. We made a great friend, Crystal, that walked us through many closed gates in order to bless us with pizza. We stayed the night in a hotel in downtown Jersey which felt like a castle or mansion after camping out in a tent on a mountain in Honduras!

Day two of attempting to fly to Africa.

This morning we were hopeful! We made our way back to the airport to be re-tested. Unfortunately one of our group members came back postive. The airport worked with us to make sure the other part of our team could fly that has immunity to Covid; since, we had it just a little over two weeks ago and now had tested negative. However, AIM chose to keep this half of our team together. So, now here we are in a hotel in New Jersey quarantining. Many could ask God, “why?, or what are you doing?.“ But, I know my God is up to something and we continue to pray, “HIS WILL be done and HIS KINGDOM come.”

Just a few photos from walking around in the city

My thoughts

Maybe, the Lord felt these streets in New Jersey needed a little light. For, life is minstry; ministry is life whether we are camped out on a mountain in Honduras or walking the city streets. If we have a ‘YES‘ in our spirits and surrender ourselves the Lord will move and work in mighty ways.

Call me crazy, but I believe miracles happen everyday. It is just our choice whether we choose to see them. Albert Einstein said, “There are only two ways to live your life: nothing is a miracle, or everything is a miracle.”

We wake up each morning. We have breath in our lungs. Our hearts are beating. The ground before us is staying still. Our bodies are able to move and do so many extraordinary things. Again, we can choose to see these things along with so many others as merely life or as miracles and blessings from the Father.

Lord, fill our hearts with purpose not depending upon where we are or anything besides just You.

Your Beloved, Kel
