Say you have 30-minutes with a stranger. You are sitting across a table with them drinking coffee or a juice-box (Rachel Jones- who does not drink coffee). Typical small talk, typical questions, “what’s your name? How old are you?….

At the end of this conversation a picture has been painted and the stranger gets to keep it. You may see this stranger again or maybe you never will. But, that painting they will have forever.

What or who would that painting portray?

All of our lives we have been painting this picture, we have been on a journey. By now you probably sense where this is going but this journey is to find out the infamous question, Who are you?

Identity

I hope you have found yourself deeply rooted in the Lord and allow Him to define you.

But, I am writing this blog to pose a different question, what picture are you leaving for those strangers today? Are you trying so hard to make it an impressive one, to paint something you are not, to hide the imperfections and mistakes? In doing so, are you taking control of the strokes?

I pray the picture that I would leave with this stranger shows little to nothing about me and everything about our Maker; His Faithfulness and His Goodness. I pray it is a picture exemplifying and leading to our Merciful, Loving Father.

John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bear much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me.”

Who or what are you portraying today?

I don’t want to paint myself well; My hope is to paint the truth and love of our Savior well. That’s all, Jesus. May we paint You, Lord, with our words, our actions, and our lives.

Your Beloved, Kel
