“How can I keep from singing Your praise,

How can I ever say enough, how amazing is Your Love,

How can I keep from shouting Your Name,

I know I am loved by the King, and it makes my heart want to sing.

I can sing in the troubled times,

I can sing when I lose my step and I fall down again,

I can sing because You pick me up,

I can sing because You are here,

I can sing because You hear me Lord when I call to You in prayer..”

The song written above plays as I sit in a dusty, unfinished 2nd floor room in a blue, plastic chair. Looking out to the beautiful mountainous-ranges of Guatemala, the sky is a striking blue with puffy, white clouds; the sun is hot and blazing. A sweat teammate of mine just washed my hair for me out of a bucket. The facet just started running water again; so, we have filtered water to drink.

Wow, God, how many times my ungrateful heart has overlooked the blessing of a hot shower, a flushed toilet, or clean water.

I thank God for His sweet grace extended towards me; so often, I have taken for granted the little blessings of life.

Father, I pray you continue to open my eyes.

Make me aware of the blessings that come with each new day.

Continue to break my heart, Lord, for what is breaking Yours.

This still moment is so sweet with You. I long for it to never end.

I will continue coming to the blue, plastic chair in this dusty room to sing Your praises.

Your Beloved, Kel

  2. I love this remembrance to stop taking, even the smallest things, for granted. As Americans and children of God, we are truly blessed. Again, thanks for the perspective. Love you Kelsey.
