“His deep affection surrounds us even in the waiting spaces.”

This is what the Lord has been teaching my heart most recently.

Breanne and I have been meeting together every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to read through the book of 1 Samuel. This is a book I have heard the story told a multitude of times, but have never really dug into for myself.

Hannah’s heart has left me in awe. Her faith so strong and her hands so open. In 1 Samuel 1:11 Hannah vows, “O Lord if thou wilt look on the affliction of thine handmaid and remember me, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life…”

When the Lord fulfills this dream Hannah rejoices not in her fulfilled dream, but rather her salvation. The simple fact that the Lord has saved her. This is truly remarkable and a testament of Hannah’s faith; she rejoices not in the blessings of the Lord, but rather just the Goodness of her Lord. Her heart beats after the Father’s heart rather than after His Hand.

Not only have Breanne and myself had the opportunity to dive into this beautiful story on our own, but we invited the Honduran girls who camp out with us to join us this past Wednesday morning. This honestly is one of my favorite memories from the race so far. They all eagerly hung to every word we had to share asking many questions since they still are in the process of learning English. These girls are anywhere from ages 16-22. They are such hard workers and have such servant’s hearts.

I couldn’t help but think of each of their heart’s dreams and desires as we sat at this table together. So, I asked; the one thing that was commonly shared was to further their education. These girls were hungry for knowledge and even hungrier for the truth of God’s Word.

Are you hungry for GOD TODAY?

Or are you just hungry for the blessings that His Hand can give?

Psalm 34:8 “Taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.”

Here I am continually reminded that this is not about myself one bit, but all about furthering the Kingdom and pursuing those around us with the Father’s love.

I encourage you to taste the Lord‘s goodness today. Invite someone into your space, take a step back and listen, let the Lord work and move through His Word.

Father, I long to taste and see Your goodness in every moment of every day.

It is there; I thank you for these sweet amigas.

My heart’s longing is for each of them to see Your goodness and to willingly hand their dreams and plans over to You knowing and trusting in Your Goodness, Father.

Your Beloved, Kel
